Candidate Questionnaire...We need your help.

As the nomination period begins on September 1st 2026 and candidates are preparing their campaigns, the time is right for the public to ask key questions that will enable them to make an informed choice for the 2026 election. Qualicum Beach Insights intends to distribute a questionnaire for all candidates on September 12th and we invite our readers to help formulate those questions to ensure we are getting a broad representation from the community. Once we get your questions we will combine what we can, into a reasonable set of questions to put to each of the candidates. (Your anonymity will be preserved.) We intend to publish the candidates responses "word for word " in early October, well before the first advance voting day.

Not withstanding that we expect there will be at least two all candidates meetings, using a questionnaire allows the candidates more opportunity to reflect upon the issue and hopefully provide more fulsome answers. We hope the questions posed by our readers will cover more topics than usually posed in the all candidate meeting format. It also provides the public with a tool to hold candidates accountable after they get elected for the positions they take to get elected.
